Winter Rose Water


Roses are not just a pretty flower, they are full of antioxidants, and have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. They are perfect for winter as they can soothe and cleanse skin without over drying. A Rose Water spritz can help rehydrate skin and also hopefully feed the need for indulgence in these dark days of winter  Rose water is easy to make or if you are short on time buy some of mine.


1. Buy yourself some organic flowers (to avoid any pesticides on the petals). I bought a mixed bunch of flowers so that I would still have something to look at after taking all the roses out. You will need about 2-3 roses for 1 cup of petals.

  1. 2. Place a low-profile heat proof bowl in the middle of a large pan. Remove the petals and place around the bowl with enough distilled water to cover.

  2. Cover with the pan lid inverted (to encourage condensation to drip into the bowl) and simmer on low for 20-30 minutes.

  3. Cool and bottle - use as a facial toner (combine 1/2 cup rose water with 1/2 witch hazel) or put in a spray bottle and spritz face throughout the day.

  4. Store in the refrigerator within 2 weeks.
