Winter is a tough time for skin. The stinging cold winds outside and the hot dry air inside suck out moisture leaving rough or sore skin. Our skin needs help to repair itself at this time of year and nature provides the best tools for the job. Giving ourselves an aromatherapy treat at the same time can help calm the stresses of dealing with the winter elements.
Winter Skin Care Tips
Stay Hydrated - drink lots of water
Exfoliate - It is hard for moisturizer to stay on rough skin, so slough off the dead dry skin at least once a week. I have been using my Manuka Honey and Ginger Salt Scrub regularly because honey is a humectant, it stays on the skin and actually draws moisture out of the air!
Avoid overly hot showers/baths, however tempting, as they strip your skin of its natural oils.
Moisturize - The power houses of the moisture world are Shea and Cocoa Butter, Jojoba, Almond, Coconut, and Avocado oils, pairing these with honey, aloe, lavender, or chamomile creating natural skincare magic.
Pucker Up - Don't forget your lips, exfoliate them with a gentle sugar scrub and apply balm regularly to keep you smooth talking all winter.
Wear Sunscreen! The sun's rays are just as damaging in the cold months.
